At the end of the day, I finished creating an S.O.S. sign, created a shelter (with water collectors) and started a fire. The good thing was the island was it was peaceful. It smelled salty ocean, the sand wrapped around my toes, I could hear the ocean tiding and the bushes rustling—wait, the bushes rustling? I looked at the bushes, I was expecting an animal, but instead a ninja figure popped out and charged at me. In the movies, the person in my position would charge back, so I did just the same. Then the ninja person took out a staff. Is that the best it could do? I was expecting a sword. I ducked and put out my leg and tried to trip it. It jumped and whacked me in the head and I was barely hanging on to consciousness. I saw it charging again—it was going to end it! It was five feet away; my vision was getting blurry and I couldn’t move. Just when my head was about to get a first-class whack, someone said “Stop.†The ninja person (which I know realized was a girl my age) looked up and lowered her staff. I got up dusted myself off and approached the person who saved my head. He was tall and was wearing full black. “Congratulations, you past your test.†He said. “What test?†I replied. “The plane, getting to the island and fighting Amy here, my daughter. You didn’t actually beat her but you where alright.†he pointed at the ninja girl. “My name in George Ida Gregory, but you can call me Commander G.I.G.†He put out his hand. “A test! For?†I yelled in disbelief. “To be a spy†He replied. I stood there wordless, wanting to punch this guy in the face so hard. Then he gestured me to follow him. We walked a few feet then stopped. “What now?†I whined. Commander pressed a button from the remote he had in his hand and a glass box rose from the sand. “That’s what†he replied. All of us walked in and as soon as we did the elevator door closed and the whole thing dropped vertically. What made it scarier was the fact that everywhere was dark. I looked up and the sand was closing on us, I looked down and I saw a growing light. Seconds later we made a stop so sudden I stumbled forward and smashed my head against the floor. I looked up and found myself in a weapon laboratory with people in white suits making and testing weapons. “Where am I?†I asked. “You’re at the H.Q. of the Secret Spies of Canada.†Amy replied without looking at me. I looked at curiously. “We’re a spy association.†She said, “Come on, I’ll take you to my dad, he’s waiting for you.†She led me to a room that had the word ‘Commander’ engraved in it. She gestured me to go in. I pushed the door open and stepped in to see the whole room painted white except for his desk and a big chair turned back towards to me. Commander stepped behind the chair. He caught sight of the expression on my face and said “The white surroundings help me think.†“Oh…okay†I replied, “So tell me more about this ‘spy’ thing.?â€. Commander looked at me with a grin and said “There’s not much to know.†I thought about it and he was right, but I still had questions for him. “Hey Commander, or whatever your name is, since this is a spy program, I need you to find out who killed my father.†“You mean Josh Diablo?†Commander replied. “How’d you know?!†I asked in astonishment. “He was a spy here, in fact, the best spy here.†“Seriously, my dad… a spy?†“Yep†“He would have told me though!†“How would you explain him being absent for a big part of your life?†Commander replied. He was right. My Dad was absent for a big part of my life. “Well you gotta send out one of your spies to find out who killed him!†“Yep, the spy who is gonna find out is in this room.†I looked at Amy. “Not me.†She said. I looked around the room but there was no other spy. I looked at Commander, but he shook his head saying no. “But who then?†I asked. “You.†Commander replied. “Me?!†I responded. “Yes, you begin training tomorrow at four o’clock a.m. sharp.†Commander said. “What about my mom?†I asked. “She thinks you’re in Mexico.†Commander replied with a smirk. “Amy, lead him to his room.†“Come on†Amy told me. My ‘room’ was just like the plane room. I actually hated the plane room, I figured, since I would be staying here for a while, I might as well re-arrange the room.
The next morning (four o’clock) I heard the alarm clock go off. I was extremely tired; I only got seven hours of sleep due to my room re-arranging. Someone knocked on the door saying “Wake up!†It was Amy, though I still kind of despised her for whacking me with that stick of hers but I answered anyways (what else was I suppose to do?). When I answered she was wearing a red t-shirt and black jeans. I always wondered why people liked jeans so much; I mean you can’t run in them and they’re very uncomfortable. Anyways, Amy led me to a room that looked like a Martial Arts Dojo. “I’m gonna learn martial arts?†I asked happily. “Duh, why else would we stop here?†She shot back. I started to get the feeling that she hated me too, oh well, that’s her problem, right now I’m gonna learn Martial Arts! As I stepped into the dojo I felt in the mood to fight. The floor was made of polished wood and there was a big mat in the middle of the room. There was also someone in the middle of the mat with a punching bag. He was old, short and was wearing a black belt in a red robe. “Welcome to the dojo of the arts.†He said calmly while bowing. I bowed too, and then all of a sudden, he spun and kicked me in the face. “Rule number one,†He said, “Never let your guard down.†I grinned, “I’m beginning to like this class already.†I replied.
