I might not be perfect. I’m like a hybrid car that never gives out. I don’t stop for fuel, and I keep it moving. I never back down from a job, and I keep it moving like an engine that never runs out of gas. Your never see my soft side because I stay strong, and I fight until it is done. I’m determined and a persistent person.
I can remember the time when I was in the eighth grade. I received my report card, and I notice I had a D in my reading class. As I was thinking to myself, “I knew that I was going to hear my mother’s mouth when I got home.” As 2:30 came around, it was time to go home, and I knew I was going to have to show my mother my report card either way. As I’m walking home, I’m thinking to myself, “How I’m going to explain this to her.” When I got home, I have no choice but to give her the report card hoping that she would not get mad. After I gave my mother the report card, she started to say evil words. She said, “If you don’t get this D up in reading, you won’t make it in life. In addition to this, she brought up my learning disabilities saying that if you don’t learn how to read, you won’t be able to fill out a college application or even fill out a job application.
I was hurt that my mother said something like this, and on top of this I thought I had someone who was going to help push me through my struggles, but I was wrong. Even though I felt bad about what she said, I stayed persistent and worked hard to bring my grades up. I became a better person out of this. I just took everything she said evil to me and made myself a better person. I pushed myself through the struggles knowing I had learning disabilities. I could have dropped out, been on the streets selling drugs, but I fought hard not to go down that road.
In the end, being a determined and a persistent person can help me with my career field, which is web design. When I step into the college, I will have to work even harder and push myself to a new level. I did it before, and I know I can do it again. By having persistence and determination as my guiding traits, I know I do well and push myself to my career goal.
