"What do you think caused the RED Demoman to do that?"
"We only have to find out... Should we drop hints in the bases?"
"It would be cruel, but we could do it."
"Are you on their side?"
"No, just acting on the possible consequences."
--
It was nighttime in the RED base. Neo, Artemis, Jon, Arthur and Fablotic are sitting around the table playing UNO. The others were sitting around, talking quietly and listening to Tom's guitar.
Neo tosses a card onto the pile, "Uno."
Fablotic smacks the table with her fist, "Again?" The Demoman laughs.
Jon throws in a Wild, "Green!"
The others play green cards and it gets back to Neo. She shakes her head sadly, "Bad luck," She puts down her last card, "I win again." The others groan in defeat.
"How does she do zat?" exclaims Arthur as he throws in his hand.
Artemis puts her cards down, "She's like a bloody psychic!"
"Naw," says the Scout, "She's just lucky."
"Well, out of all of you, Jon's might be the closest... Rematch anyone?" says Neo, grinning.
"That's the third time tonight that I've lost. I'm going to turn in." says the Heavy, dropping her cards on the table and heading for the bunks.
"Sleep es gud..." says Arthur, following her.
Artemis nods and she and Jon follow them with quiet good nights. Neo walks over to Tom, who is still quietly playing, and the others and joins them. Frice was sitting quietly and listening while an annoyed Starfall is trying to move Flare the Pyro off of her lap without waking him up.
"Plannin' on stayin' up any later?" Neo asks them quietly.
"I'm going to go to sleep after everyone else does." says the Froslass.
"Sounds like a good plan." Neo sits and listens to the quiet noises of the night.
Soon, an unsuccessful Soldier gets up with the Cyndaquil in her arms, mutters a good night and heads for the bunks. Tom stops playing, "Well, it seems like everyone's going to bed now. May as well go with 'em." He picks up his guitar, "'Night, y'all." He follows Starfall.
That left Neo and Frice. "I'll close up, Frice." says the Demoman. "Thank you, Neo. Good night." Frice says as she goes with Tom. Neo calls a quiet good night to her as she leaves. She walks outside and looks up at the stars. The sight calmed her anxiety, since the afternoon's events were still nagging at her brain. After a few minutes, she walks inside, closes the door and turns out the lights.
Neo went to the bunks, took off her vest and flopped down on her bed. She lay on her back, staring at the ceiling. No matter how hard she tried, her brain wouldn't calm down enough to let her sleep.
Tap! Neo sat up. Something had hit the small window near her bed. Tap! Again! She went over to the window and looked out. Nobody there. Tap! What? She slipped out of bed and went outside in the cool night to investigate. "Show yourself!" She hissed quietly as she neared the window.
A de-cloak sound. Neo tackled the figure, sending them down a hill. At the bottom, she quickly got up and faced the intruder. Then she recognized him. "Felix? What are you doing here?"
"Look- I couldn't sleep. Sorry for scaring you...." says the BLU Spy.
"Scared me? You had me on edge!" retorts Neo, "And just because I saved you this afternoon doesn't mean that we're forever allies! We're still at war, and you know it!"
This shut him up for a minute, "I know. You're right. But... I still don't see why you did that. We do have respawn, you know."
Now that he mentioned it, he was right. "... I don't even know what crossed my mind then.... But we're still enemies."
"... I should probably just go back to the base..." says Felix.
Neo then realized she may have been a bit harsh, "OK, sorry. I didn't want t' scare you off."
"Typhiac is still on to me about this, and he might be wondering where I am."
"You have a point..."
"I... Really have to go back..."
"Then go," the RED Demoman said, "And quick!"
"... Goodbye, Neo..." The Spy cloaks again and he was gone.
Neo went back inside. Now she was even more confused. She got back in her bed and tried to sort it all out. She didn't even realize she had fallen asleep.
