Oh boy, another crap horror movie review, of another boring movie. This one might also contain spoilers, but it was so boring to the point I legitimately don't remember any of the plot points. So I won't be going through like the whole movie. I really, really don't reccomend watching this one. You know how long it takes for anything to actually happen? The last s i x t e e n minutes of the movie. For the entirety of the rest of it pretty much nothing happens. For a little bit before the last sixteen minutes a couple characters do die, but you don't see it. You just find their bodies and thats it.
The plot of the movie revolves around this camera crew working for some home renovation show checking up on a previous subject of the show six months later to see if she ever did anything with the house. Yet somehow the movie got confused and pretty much the first half is just the three main characters goofing off in this little town in Maldova, they manage to piss off the townspeople because they walk in and record a funeral, so then for awhile you have the townspeople creepily watching them or saying weird things to them.
The movie acts like it wants to set up that the townspeople want to murder the camera crew, because the camera crew is constantly goofing off, being idiots and just generally disrespectful. But the movie managed to get confused on that too.
Every so often while these people are trying to do their job you see random groups of the townspeople staring at them, or their van carrying axes. Just watching them. Because haha the movie's called they're watching
But considering these people really wanted to kill the witch, yes. A witch. Why they act so menacingly to the camera crew I couldn't tell you. I guess just because they're stupid rude Americans? They obviously aren't witches. Maybe its murder by association?
Why is there a witch? How the f u c k should I know. You get told occasionally in the movie about the story of how 100 years ago the townspeople burned someone they thought was a witch because, she lived in the outskirts of the town, didn't go to church and was a single woman living alone.
Then the movie just decides to blatantly tell you Beckey, the woman the show was checking up on, is the Witch. Or atleast the Townspeople think she is. She tells the crew she doesn't really have neighbors, and the townspeople don't like her because she doesn't go to church and is a single woman living alone. Oh and the big ass mural in the cellar of the witch burning that clearly looks like Beckey.
That plot point kind of doesn't make sense at first though considering nothing supernatural has happened and it just seems like it's crazy townspeople who want to murder the outsiders. But no. Beckey is actually a Witch. Magic and everything.
Beckey being a literal Witch doesn't even make sense though. At one point the townspeople wreck the film crews van, stranding them there at Beckey's and one character offers to go get help. Only to later find his corpse strung up on a kiln with his eyes gouged out. You think it was the townspeople. But nope. Somehow it was Beckey. Even though Beckey was with the rest of the characters the whole time.
So either the Townspeople were going to murder the film crew out of association, or Beckey cloned herself.
Anyway Beckey does witch things, she murdered two of the people with the camera crew, slaughters the townspeople and murders the rest of the camera crew while forcing the remaining person to film it.
Then I just kind of stopped watching. Some of the kills were over the top and creative I guess, but at that point I waited through over an hour of nothing happening just for supernatural shenanigans and not a group of crazy townspeople murdering random people. I was legitimately disappointed not to mention bored.
I really do not reccomend watching this movie, unless you want to sit through an hour of random people acting like jackasses just for sudden supernatural shenanigans to happen.
The movie presents itself at first like its going to be a generic horror movie that's atleast somewhat realistic, only to get confused and decide instead that no, W i t c h. It will be a Witch that kills everyone.
Unless you want to be super bored for over an hour, seriously don't watch this movie. Stay far, far away.
