samuel and andrew showed me around the manor, it's huge here! and so fancy...
first they showed me to my bedroom, there were two beds, so i think i'm sharing the room with someone. i asked them about the garden, and they said they'd show me around there tomorrow morning! they also showed me everyone else's bedrooms, along with the other rooms like the dining room, and the study. then i went to my bedroom.
i'm so excited to eventually get to know everyone else, though. i said hi to a bunch of others while sam and drew (those are their nicknames!) introduced me. i hope they like me.
the assistant lady (her name is clementine) was in my bedroom when i went to get ready for dinner and we talked a bit. i forgot to ask her about my roommate, oops.. but she told me to go downstairs for dinner in an hour, so i can ask her then.
i unpacked and freshened up, but there was still some time left, so i decided to write.
i guess i'll draw while i wait now.
Marie flipped to the next page in her journal & began to doodle little frogs.
She loved frogs.
They were very cute with their little eyes & shiny bodies.
As she doodled, she thought of everyone she had met today.
Dul, Whet, Miss Clementine, Samuel, Andrew, & the others living here.
There were so many others that she'd forgotten most of their names, besides one girl.
The one girl truly stood out to Marie.
She stood out because of how she didn't say a word to Marie, along with her looks.
Marie thought back to the moment they were introduced.
Samuel & Andrew were both leading her towards the study.
"We call it the study, but really, it's more of a computer room," Samuel mentioned as-a-matter-of-factly.
Andrew shook his head in disagreement, "I'd say more of a science room because of all the equipment and materials in there."
They stopped at the door to the study, "Yeah, but, there're more machines in there than anything," said Samuel, a hint of annoyance in his voice. He turned the knob & cracked the door open to the room.
It was quite dark besides the glowing light from a computer screen in the corner.
Marie looked over to where the light came from & saw someone in the corner sitting on a swivel chair, their body illuminated by the large computer screen.
The person seemed to not have noticed their presence, & continued on with whatever they were doing without a word.
Andrew noticed who it was, "I'll wait outside the room."
Marie turned to Andrew questioningly as he flicked the lights on & shut the door behind him.
Samuel shrugged led Marie towards the person.
The person was a girl.
She was was wearing headphones & leaning back in the chair, she seemed to be asleep honestly.
Which explained why she didn't seem to be noticing them.
The girl seemed to have fallen asleep listening to music, as Marie could faintly hear sound coming from the headphones.
Samuel grabbed the headphones & yanked them off.
Quite inconsiderate, in Marie's eyes.
But she assumed they knew each other well & were supposedly close, so maybe it wasn't that much of a problem.
The girl sat up in surprise, still facing the screen & paused for a moment, as if shaking the sleep off her shoulders.
Samuel then leaned up close to the girl's ear & put his arm around her shoulders, "Hey Gio, you wanna introduce yourself to the new kid over here? Or are you going to hate them for no reason too?"
Marie was really taken aback by how rude his statement was, & by how intimately he was acting.
But, again, they must've been really close, otherwise he wouldn't possibly dare to act this way..
Right?
She pried Samuel off of herself & muttered, "Please leave me alone."
Samuel stepped back, his hands up in defeat, "Alright. Sorry. I just thought you'd like to at least introduce yourself." He turned to Marie, "Marie, meet Giovanna. Giovanna this is Marie."
Giovanna sighed & covered her face with her hands, leaning back in the chair, "Anything else?"
The corners of Samuel's mouth turned down. He seemed bothered, but then shrugged it off with a smirk & retorted, "Well, I'll be leaving you to your useless computers."
Giovanna's eyebrows furrowed as she turned to Samuel, & grabbed the headphones from his hands, "You should really learn to control yourself." She put the headphones on again & swiveled the chair back to the computer screen, arms crossed. Her eyes squeezed shut, as if she was trying to get back to her sleep.
Samuel sighed & tapped Marie's shoulder as a gesture for her to follow him as he walked towards the door.
He opened the door for Marie, then walked out behind her, shutting the door with a slam.
Marie jumped a little at how loud the slam was.
She looked to Andrew, a puzzled look on her face.
Andrew glanced at Samuel, then looked back to Marie & sighed, "Don't worry, it's not you." He walked towards Samuel & crossed his arms, "She's just hard to talk to, when you insist on talking to her.. Even after she told you to leave her alone, multiple times. Was that punch not enough, Sam..?" His voice showing tones of anger now, "Why did you have to introduce her to Marie anyways? It's not like Gio cares. She--"
Samuel frowned as he interrupted, "Why? Because it seems as if everyone else gave up on trying to get through to her. Seriously.. Why do you think she hates everyone? Because we leave her alone..? It's obvious that she needs someone to talk to. It's not right for someone to be so alone!"
Andrew took in a breath as if he was about to yell back, but Marie then stepped up between them & spoke up, "Excuse me, but.. Could you two stop? I may not have any idea on what is going on here, but.. Just stop."
The boys turned to her & then to each other. Their eyebrows turned their frowns into regretful expressions. Andrew spoke up first, "Yes... Alright. I'm sorry, Marie." He turned to walk away, "I need some fresh air."
Marie shook her head, already regretting having spoken up. A feeling of guilt washed over her, "Oh, um.. It's fine, really.. I understand..." She helplessly stood there as Andrew walked by.
Samuel sighed, he felt uncomfortable knowing that he'd acted this way in front of Marie. Embarrassed? Possibly. He cleared his throat, "Hey, I'm going to my room. It'd be best if you did too. Dinner's soon, so you may want to, I dunno, freshen up or somethin'."
"Oh, yes, alright.." She then quickly added, "Thank you for the tour. This manor is really lovely."
He nodded, "Yeah.. It is." He patted her back as he walked past her, down the hallway.
She blinked hard in slight disbelief at what had happened, & began walking towards her room.
She bit her lip as her mind swirled with questions, many of which she had, but no one to answer.
She opened up the door to her room, & came face-to-face with a surprised Clementine, "Oh, Hello there Marie! How was the tour?"
"It was really lovely. Er, until Giovanna," she winced at the memory of Samuel & Andrew arguing over the mysterious girl.
Clementine's happy & carefree expression changed to a concerned look at the mention of Giovanna's name. She muttered to herself, "Oh dear. Did those boys argue over that again...?"
Marie overheard her whispers, "They often argue??" she asked curiously.
Clementine pursed her lips & tilted her head upwards, "Oh yes." She shut the wardrobe doors. "Giovanna has a fear of connecting with folk. We do not know why. But, Adeleine & I tried to help, & well.. It didn't work. Everyone else respects her wishes to stay alone though. Everyone.. but Samuel, of course. His stubborn attitude will not let him accept the fact that someone would possibly want to be alone."
Marie nodded in understanding.
She had a lot of thoughts on everything, a lot of questions too.
But didn't really know what to say, or how to say it.
"Don't worry about it though. The girl'll open up once she's healed," Clementine said as she walked up to the bedroom door. "For now, you should keep your mind on getting ready for dinner. It'll be ready in an hour." She then shut the door behind her, leaving Marie alone in the large room.
"Time to wait, I suppose." Marie said to no one but herself.
IK that there's big gaps between when you release each Chapter, but considering how much thought you put into each one, and the amount of detail you go into, I'd say that it's always well worth the wait!
I can't wait for the next one! (And don't worry, lol, I don't mean that I literally "can't wait" for it, just that I'm looking forward to it.)
good guess, but nope. the name comes from how the island they're currently on is star shaped. i'll explain more later.
& as for gio, she's just kinda hurt from losing so many people close to her (can't say why or how just yet), that she decided the best way to avoid getting hurt is to avoid people altogether.

Ah, lol, that makes sense! (I'm suddenly reminded of the Mini-Game "Fish Upon a Star" from Mario Party 5 now, lol.)
And I see.
Thanks for telling me that (and not spoiling anything) BTW, I appreciate it.
