I genuinely am upset that the CVE program might be defunded today (as of writing). This would be the END of cybersecurity as a whole. This is the FOUNDATION of the cybersec community... We need to know what CVE's are out in the wild! Without knowing what is coming the world is at major risk of global catastrophe... It is the wild west with no way of logging any new exploits! Every system is at MUCH higher risk of getting hacked like this... As somebody who runs infrastructure if I am unable to defend my infrastructure I cannot continue to maintain it. State actors will attempt to stay in for months or longer in companies that do NOT defend themselves properly and use that to pivot towards what they want. Not having any knowledge of the foundation to cybersecurity means everything else including how to defend against these threats no longer becomes viable. We will all be hacked like that in the long run for who knows how many times in a row...
