As to my knowledge, the black background in settings is an image. If this were {background:black} instead, this would likely

• Slightly nicer on load times/memory usage
• Be usable by people who have images turned off (I do this because some people use massively inefficient images, GIFs, etc for avatars that make my memory run out)
• Not make the screen white for a little bit while loading

The black background is a 1x1 image, as is the white background. Eventually I'd like to add a color setting for no background, but that will take changes to every page -- based on the archaic way I wrote everything 11 years ago.

The problem with that is that you would have to complicate the script in order to accomodate the new style tag and/or non-image attribute.

Simply put: black background is an image because it makes the coder's life easier.

I can't seem to think of a good way to change black to a background-color off the top of my head, but good suggestion...?
