Also consider that some bosses can be invincible during some attacks. DustMan from 4 is a good example. When he used his suction attack, he was completely invincible inless he hurt you or he was done.

I know his weaknesses (Time stopper and Air shooter), but I prefer to get QuickMan out of the way so I do FlashMan first then QuickMan.

Come to think of it, the only boss I've ever had trouble dealing with in the classic megaman games was QuickMan. Good lord.

If your using an area effect weapon, odds are your not gonna defeat the boss it's weak to. Also try to learn a boss's movement and attack patterns. Odds are attacking might be why the boss attacks so much. I know a few past bosses, like crashman from 2, almost always attacked when you did.
